céline dion found our blog, and she didn’t like it. we just got a letter from céline’s lawyers that the blog has to be shut down.
though this blog is well within the realm of ‘fair use’, i don’t have the money or time to get a lawyer to respond. the dream is over.

Something really seems fishy about all this. I believe the blog owner got an e-mail/letter/whatever, but honestly? I think it was either some random online prankster, a batshit stan offended that anyone would make fun of his/her queen, or idek what. Here’s why I think this is fishy (some of this was said in my last post, but some more ideas have come to me - deal):
- Celine actually does have a sense of humor. If you’ve seen any interview with her, seen her offstage, etc., you know this. I don’t think Celine has any problem laughing at herself. Maybe she does. I like to think not.
- This blog has been shut down by “Celine and her team,” but they haven’t gone after those “Celine Dion is amazing/better than you/still amazing” videos that pretty much showcase the same type of stuff the blog was about that have been around for years? I call shenanigans. Don’t even try to tell me they don’t know about those videos, they have to.
- How often do lawyers contact the website owner directly? Several years ago, I owned a domain and on my site, for cataloguing purposes, I listed films I’d downloaded and burned to VCD. There was nothing stating that they were for sale, trade, giveaway, anything - just a mere list. The MPAA contacted my host - NOT ME, my host - and my website was shut down, even after I’d told them I’d agree to take the list down. I had to get a new host and everything.
I’m still sad the blog is gone, regardless of who sent those messages to the owner. I had myself a good hearty laugh over it the few times I thought to go look at it. I have a few ridiculous pics of Celine on my Tumblr myself. Sorry, whoever you are, but I think you may have gotten punk’d, and it was a rotten thing to do to you. :( And if it’s legit, I’m side-eyeing Celine and her team right now.
